Flying up the Sunshine Coast
Recently I had a chance to check another item off the bucket list…fly a plane! My friend John has a 3D printer which I helped him get dialed in and he paid me back by taking me for a spin in his plane on a perfect day.

This website has been a wonderful outlet for me to share some of my favorite things, places I’ve been and more. It started out as simply a place to direct people to for more information on something that interested me. I never imagined that, as a result of my little posts here, that a book deal would come my way. That’s just what happened last year. Apparently if you write about something enough, people think you’re somewhat of an expert and so I was asked if I’d like to write a book about 3D printing.
Amazon made a big splash with the recent release of their new Fire TV set top box. Positioned to directly compete against the Apple TV (both priced at $99US), it’s a pretty beefy little box for all your media viewing at home.
It’s that time of year again when you start seeing lots of people in costume on the streets of Vancouver as they all head down to the Vancouver Convention Centre for Fan Expo Vancouver. Here’s just a brief glimpse at some of the people and creatures I found on the expo floor: Fan Expo is…
Basically, the Doodle3D is a little box that plugs into your 3D printer (with support for lots of them) and provides a simple app for sketching a design and then sending it to the printer.
Today I had the chance to preview a bunch of Samsung’s upcoming new products, including their flagship smartphone, the S5. I’ve got a review unit for a little while so for now, here’s some of the highlights in photos: Quick highlights: beautiful larger 5.1″ screen with an emphasis in a more natural look than the…
My last day in Hawaii was a guided tour of the island with Hawaii Outdoor Guides. The day long tour started with a 9am pickup from the hotel in Waikoloa by our guide, Katie. Our first stop was at the End of the World, also known as the Kuamoo or Lekeleke Burial Grounds which is…
After a spectacular time at the Brewfest, the next morning came a little too quickly as Marc and I headed down to the Kona pier to embark on a snorkel and whale watching tour with Body Glove Hawaii. Snorkelling is something I love doing and try to do as much of as possible when I visit Hawaii. Surprisingly, I’d never done a boat trip before. All my snorkelling was done from shore so I was stoked to hear that we’d be headed to a secluded reef.
I just got back from my shortest trip to Hawaii ever…just four days. My pal, Marc Smith, invited me to tag along while he was on the last island (the big island of Hawaii) of his 30 Day Adventures in Hawaii. I’ve been to Hawaii many times but this was the first time back to Kona since I first visited 20 years ago. Fortunately for me, one of the events on his agenda was the 2014 Kona Brewers Festival. Because beer…in Hawaii.
A few weeks ago, Samsung Canada loaned me the latest edition of their Android-based tablet, the Galaxy TabPRO. At 8.4 inches, it’s priced and equipped to directly compete with Apple’s iPad Mini.
