Creating Time Lapse movies with the Nikon P6000
On the weekend after shooting the 12×12 timelapse video, I was talking with Angela who also owns the Nikon P6000. She wanted to know how I shot the timelapse. I figured it would make a good blog post so here you go…keep in mind this is how I do it and there are many other…
iMovie 09 video stabilization comparison
Just started playing with video in iMovie ’09 at lunch today and thought it might fun to see how it deals with hand held video. Here’s the stabilized version of the fisheye video I shot with my D90 at WordCamp Whistler: and here’s the original: The color differences are just my output settings in iMovie…
Driving to WSSF 2011
This past weekend, my friends at GM Canada loaned me a red 2011 Camero convertible to drive up to Whistler to attend the Whistler Ski & Snowboard Festival, aka WSSF. Since the weather was perfect, it seemed fitting to strap the GoPro to the trunk and make a time-lapse of the trip up: The video…
3D Printing Hangout Interview
I recently bumped into Ricky Shetty (daddyblogger.ca) at an event and he was very interested in 3D printing technology. So we ended up doing an interview via Google Hangout. It’s always fun explaining the technology to people and showing off the output from my printers. Thanks for the opportunity, Ricky!

That was cool! So that was actually time lapse sped up? Really looked like a video!
I’ve got an idea for a time lapse type video spinning around in my head. I’ll let you know if and when I ever pull it off. :)
Technically it’s not a timelapse, but rather just a ‘speed up’…but it displays the frames fast enough to appear like a time lapse.
The HD video was shot in real time (about a 20 minute drive normally) at 60 frames per second which I sped up 1000x to have it last about a minute and a half in the end.
I’d love to hear your idea for a time lapse!
Haha very suitable music :)
Wow it’s hard to believe that was sped up 1000 times… goes to show you how slow the traffic is in Vancouver! :)
I’m gonna try and get some timelapse with my Nikon for the moving we are doing this weekend. It’s pretty tricky to set up, I’ll give ya that! Thanks for the inspiration!
My idea is something along the lines of this:

But with a little more thought and effort put into it. Thinking of just playing some scales, but taking a photo (or perhaps two) of each note being played, and then actually adding in the sound for each note. Not really sure how it will turn out… Just need the time to get it done, and time is quite precious these days.
