Perhaps I shouldn’t have 3D printed this
But I couldn’t resist Landru’s awesome model of the T-800 Terminator Exoskull. It was also my first time printing something with support. I used MakerWare’s built in support option in this 4 hour print using the medium quality settings. The support literally peels off and is kind of like velcro (but looks like a brillo pad when printing with silver filament in this case) and leaves a surprisingly clean finish where it was attached.
I timelapsed the print but still trying to figure out the best way to capture these prints since the Replicator 2 has a different moving platform than my Thing-O-Matic did, so it’s challenging to find the right position for the camera, in this case my GoPro Hero 2:
I for one, welcome our new Skynet overlords.
Awesome!
Only 4 hours to print?! Wich scale did you use?
It was at the default, 100% scale. I’m very tempted to max out my build platform and make it life size.
So that is why you wanted the silver. Now I want one.
Skynet wanted the silver…
That’s pretty fast IMO.
Do you know the layer height and speed that the medium settings yield?
The defaults for medium quality in MakerWare are 0.27mm layer height and 80mm/s speed. 10% infill with 2 shells.
