Tech Tuesday: Interactive Mirrors and 3D printed Lego Mini-Figs

This week on News 1130 radio in Vancouver, I talked about these items:

  • Posh View Interactive Mirror: I recently got to see the Posh View Interactive Mirror in person at the Calgary MakerFaire. This mirror is meant for the home and provides an interactive display built into the glass of the mirror. A user simply walks up to the mirror and via their smartphone, the mirror recognizes them and provides customized content on the screen embedded in the mirror. You can see and read email, check the weather and update your facebook status, all while you’re brushing your teeth (source)
  • Get your head on a Lego MiniFig: Similar to the Disney Princess story we had last week, Firebox.com is now offering a service that will make a 3d printed model of your head (using just two still photos of you) that can be attached to a Lego MiniFig, a larger action figure or bobblehead. The technology is very impressive considering no 3d scanning is occurring and resulting detail is incredible. (source)
