SXSW 2013: How 3D Printing Changed My Life

Today, the SXSW panel picker went live. This is the system which helps the SXSW team decide which, of the 3000+ submissions they received, should get a spot for 2013. Votes (thumbs up/down) only accounts for 30% of the scoring with the rest made up of scores from a committee.

I submitted an idea for a talk that I’m still piecing together in my head but here’s what I’ve got so far:

SXSW

Title: How 3D Printing Changed My Life

Description:
Discussing the process I went through after discovering 3d printing technolgy (at SXSW in 2009) and how it allows me to express and explore many maker, DIY and geek pursuits all in one place while at the same time solving many creative problems and the power this technology has in potentially changing the world.

Questions Answered:

  • What is 3d printing technology?
  • Is this the start of a new industrial revolution?
  • What are the requirements for entry in the 3d printing and design world?
  • What can this technology do for me?
  • Where is this technology going?

If you’re planning on attending in 2013, consider voting for my talk if it interests you and feel free to leave a comment or question there as well.

I’m not going to be spamming everyone to vote so consider this my only ‘ask’ for this part of the process which I’m not really a fan of.

Thanks!

UPDATE (October 15, 2012): I just got word that my talk was accepted so I’ll be heading back to Austin in 2013!
