Let your iPhone play Name that Tune
This is REALLY cool. Take your iPhone and hold it up to a speaker/radio/etc playing nearly any song and run Erica Sudun’s insane new app, Listen. It will ‘sample’ whatever is near the iPhone’s microphone and after a couple of seconds will display the song, artist and album of whatever it heard. I’ve had about…
Why I won’t be shopping at Save-On Foods anymore
Recently, I stumbled across a useful and free iPhone app that I’ve been meaning to review on this site. This post is not that review. This post is about my recent experience(s) with it at Save-On Foods, which is a local grocery store chain. As the post title implies, it doesn’t end well. First of…
Nikon Pronea-S APS film camera
This past weekend, I dragged myself out of bed early to go to a camera swap meet with Peter. Didn’t expect to find anything (we did bump into Reilly) but ended up finding this camera in near mint condition, complete with box, manual and even the warranty card for $15: Why is this a good…

Snorkel and Whale Watching Cruise in Kona, Hawaii
After a spectacular time at the Brewfest, the next morning came a little too quickly as Marc and I headed down to the Kona pier to embark on a snorkel and whale watching tour with Body Glove Hawaii. Snorkelling is something I love doing and try to do as much of as possible when I visit Hawaii. Surprisingly, I’d never done a boat trip before. All my snorkelling was done from shore so I was stoked to hear that we’d be headed to a secluded reef.
Gifts to get your geek this holiday season
It’s no secret that most geeks are hard to buy for…myself included. I figured a list of fun things you’re not going to find at the local department store might be useful…with plenty of lead time to buy them online. In no particular order: Lomokino & Lomoscope (~$100, Lomography) I love the concept of this…
Sailing with Bluewater Adventures
This past Friday, I was invited to attend a special media boat cruise up Indian Arm aboard the 68′ ketch, the Island Odyssey. Yeah, I know it’s my second nautical themed event this week, life is rough sometimes. The purpose of the event was to let the local community know more about Bluewater Adventures which…
