LensBaby Composer + Nikon D90 Video
I can’t wait for the LensBaby Composer to be released…check out this unfortunately low quality YouTube video of the co-founder of LensBaby demostrating the Composer attached to a Nikon D90 in video mode:
One of the first things I thought about when I heard about the D90’s video capabilities was the ability to do tilt shift video and other types of creative things that would simply be too expensive to play with on a traditional videocamera.
While not shot with a DSLR, here’s a great example of the possibilities this can bring:
Beached from Keith Loutit on Vimeo.
I’m very excited about being able to play with this kind of stuff…stay tuned!
That is so cool! Like looking at an ant colony. Add a little blue-screen foot stamping down at the end and you’ve got a viral video (as if this weren’t viral enough to begin with!)
Next time I see you with this setup you gotta let me play with it!!
Can you plug in an external mic into the d90?
No external mic input unfortunately.
Beached was indeed shot with a DSLR, it’s a time-lapse from still images and using a real TS-lens.
If you think the Lensbabies will give you similar tilt, you’ll be disappointed. The babies have a sweet spot (in the glass), so you’ll always have blur all around the focused point. With real tilting you can add a plane of focus on the image that is sharp from side to side and blurred top and bottom.
