LensBaby Composer + Nikon D90 Video

I can’t wait for the LensBaby Composer to be released…check out this unfortunately low quality YouTube video of the co-founder of LensBaby demostrating the Composer attached to a Nikon D90 in video mode:

One of the first things I thought about when I heard about the D90’s video capabilities was the ability to do tilt shift video and other types of creative things that would simply be too expensive to play with on a traditional videocamera.

While not shot with a DSLR, here’s a great example of the possibilities this can bring:

I’m very excited about being able to play with this kind of stuff…stay tuned!

  1. That is so cool! Like looking at an ant colony. Add a little blue-screen foot stamping down at the end and you’ve got a viral video (as if this weren’t viral enough to begin with!)

  2. Beached was indeed shot with a DSLR, it’s a time-lapse from still images and using a real TS-lens.

If you think the Lensbabies will give you similar tilt, you’ll be disappointed. The babies have a sweet spot (in the glass), so you’ll always have blur all around the focused point. With real tilting you can add a plane of focus on the image that is sharp from side to side and blurred top and bottom.
