Flying to Whistler with London Air Services

Last Friday, I had the chance to go to Whistler to attend a private event for London Drugs previewing new tech products for the upcoming holiday season (blog post coming soon).

As London Drugs also owns London Air Services, they flew myself and a handful of other local media up in their AgustaWestland helicopter.

The trip was almost a bust as Vancouver had been covered in heavy fog for a few days. We were supposed to leave from the heli-pad downtown but had to leave from the South Terminal of YVR.

There is nothing more fun than taking off in a helicopter when the ground drops away and you head straight up…into the clouds.

I brought a bunch of camera gear and photographed the return flight as well had my GoPro shooting video for the entire trip.

The flight home ended up with spectacular views of the Lower Mainland as the fog had started to lift, giving us some amazing views from above the clouds. See if you can spot your house:

As the GoPro was mounted inside the helicopter, there was a fair bit of reflection as we turned into the sun but it’s still a fun way to see the mountains above the Sea to Sky Highway. The video is sped up to make the full 30 minute trip happen in about 2.

Lots more photos can be found in my Flickr set for the trip.

My thanks to London Air Services for their hospitality and a spectacular ride.
