Tech Tuesday: Belkin NetCam and Nike+ Fuel Band

This week on News 1130 Radio in Vancouver, I talked about these items:

New gadget #nikefuelband

  • Belkin NetCam: a new webcam from Belkin ($129) lets you put a wireless security camera anywhere in your house and it can see in the dark thanks to it’s night vision lighting. You can monitor the camera from your smartphone and it will send you an alert and photo when it detects movement. (source)
  • Nike Fuel Band: available earlier this year in the US and now available in Canada, Nike’s new take on the pedometer is here. Looking like a simple rubber wristband (available in 3 different colorschemes), pressing the single button illuminates the hidden display which shows the time, number of steps taken, calories burned and a ‘magic’ score called Fuel points used to track and summarize your activities and encourages you to beat your goal on a daily basis. As well, you can sync the wristband with a smartphone and compare your scores with Facebook friends for even more motivation.
