Tech Tuesday: Wifi controlled lightbulbs & Digital Dudz

This week on News 1130 radio in Vancouver, I talked about these items:

  • Wifi controlled Lightbulbs: The GreenWave Reality Connected Lighting Solution is a $200 kit that allows you to control the four included LED light bulbs via wifi from your smartphone. You can create simple or complex lighting schedules, group bulbs together to act as a single fixture and more. Additional light bulbs are $20. Apple also just recently partnered with Phillips to offer RGB wifi bulbs in their stores that allow you to change them to any color you’d like as well. (source)
  • Digital Dudz: last year a guy made a big splash with his clever halloween costume by strapping 2 iPads to his body (front & back) and turning on the cameras giving the illusion that he had a gaping chest wound. This year, he’s back with a smartphone app that lets you have some similar fun with your halloween costume. The free app has many visual animations of eyeballs, beating hearts, maggots and other nasty things that you can activate by hitting the touch screen. Simply stitch it into your costume and freak out your friends.
